I am the youngest person on my team, so of course my team members were excited to hear all crazy exciting things I got to do. With all attention on me I answered.... wait for it... wait for it... "ummmm, read blogs??" You would not believe the blank stares I received. One lady started laughing and then stopped and said "Oh, you are serious?"
SO! In light of school starting soon, I would like to write my "What I did on my summer vacation" so that people can know that reading blogs is not ALL I did this summer. (just MOSTLY what I did)
I started the summer as a bridesmaid in my cousin's wedding.
This is the bridesmaid luncheon at a tea room in Grapevine. I am the one in the hat and hot pink robe.
Sara's reception was at the Dallas Museum of Art. It was beautiful.
A few days after the wedding, my husband and I went to Playa del Carmen with a group of friends for a week. The scenery was incredible and we had a lot of fun, but I was ready to come home and have some "real" Mexican food at Posados.
One of the first events we planned was to see Chichen Itza. It is considered one of the new 7 Wonders of the World.(I'll never understand why they didn't just call it the 8th or 9th wonder of the world) It was hot. There were a bunch old rocks. Culture for the trip, check.
After the ruins, we stopped at a cenote. It was gorgeous and the water felt great after walking around and looking at rocks for a few hours. All the daring people dove off the steps to the left into the water. I held onto to a rock on the side and cheered them on.
We went to a water park called XelHa and went snorkeling in the big open area you see behind us in the picture. We also went tubing which ending up being us paddling ourselves in a tube because the water didn't flow all that well.
We ventured into downtown Playa to try out the local food and nightlife but we spent most our time at the beach, at the pool, or eating.
We had a great time with great friends!
The rest of July was spent cleaning my house, having a garage sale, and house sitting for a friend.
I finished up my summer this past weekend in Dallas. We went to a cocktail party/couples shower on Friday and then a fundraiser on Saturday. My friend's fiance throws the fundraiser every year and it is basically live music and beer pong all night. There was also a raffle in which I won an autographed Tony Romo football!! But, more importantly I was awarded a "Marathon Basher" gold medal for having been at the event from start to close (4pm-2am) two years in a row. Mom and Dad will be so proud. Well, maybe just Dad.
And that's what I did on my summer vacation.
THE END!!!!
(Those teachers know this is how every kid ends any story they ever write.)

Well, I am a Spanish teacher and students didn't end their stories with "The end." They would say "El fin", which, of course, is the end.
Feel free to use that at the end of your next story--for variation, of course.
It sounds like you had a very, very, very, very, good summer!
That's how my second graders would write if I told them to make it longer.
Did you see a turtle? I saw a turtle at the zoo. That's how first graders would comment on your story.
Fun summer...I don't know if it was as cool as StayCation with a two year old...but...fun none-the-less!
Your presentation regarding your usage of your paid-time-off demonstrates a best practice in how to leverage various strategies in order to maximize your potential during Q3.
That's how people who don't get summers off would comment on your story.
People who don't get summers off are boring! But they don't have to eat Ramen noodles for dinner.
You are too young. (I am not too old, you are too young.)
NB, you are right about the folks who don't have their summers off...at least about the ramen noodle part:) That's why we live in Watauga and not Flo-Mo like SOOOMMEMEE people...I'm just sayin':) Are you doin' the margarita thing on Friday night???
